vegIMPACT, short for ‘vegetable production with impact’, is a program aimed at improving vegetable production and marketing for small farmers in Indonesia. vegIMPACT ran from December 2012 until December 2017 and is continued under the name vegIMPACT NL until March 2020. The addition ‘NL’ stands for both Next Level and the Netherlands: vegIMPACT NL contributes to the further development (‘next level’) of vegetable production and private sector development in Indonesia using horticulture knowledge and expertise from the Netherlands.
Activities within vegIMPACT focused on practical training and capacity building of farmers, extension and other stakeholders in vegetable chains. The programme promoted good agricultural practices and developed new value chains to increase crop yields, reduce production costs and improve farmers’ income for a more sustainable vegetable production. Through its activities vegIMPACT contributed to food and nutrition security and to private sector development in Indonesia.
vegIMPACT reached more than 15,000 farmers directly in trainings, field expos and workshops and vegIMPACT contributed to the development of the vegetable app MyAgri , which is available for free from the Google play Store. In MyAgri much of the practical vegetable knowledge generated in vegIMPACT is accumulated and accessible.
In addition, vegIMPACT has developed various other deliverables that are available from this website:
