Harvesting Chilies in the Land of Papua

Richard Mamoribo, a farmer who lives in Samabusa, Nabire, Papua, has cultivated bird’s eye chilies in his crop. Starting with 3 kilograms on his first harvest, he managed to harvest 29 kilograms of bird’s eye chilies from his land in September. Since August, he has harvested his cultivation five times. In order for his plants to grow optimally, Richard Mamoribo conducts a regular monitoring with our Technical Field Officer. According to the data, in total 63,5 kilograms of bird’s eye chillies has been harvested, which equivalent to 900 trees out of a total population 1,275 trees. We hope that his harvest will continue to increase in the future.
