The new vegIMPACT NL program was officially launched during the Wageningen Indonesian Network Exposure Scientific Meeting 2018 (WISE 2018) in Bogor, Indonesia, July 6th 2018. At the meeting, WUR presented it plans to continue its activities aimed at improving vegetable production and strengthening private sector development in Indonesia. In collaboration with the private sector 30,000 vegetable farmers will receive training on good agricultural practices in vegIMPACT NL. WUR will further build the capacity of trainers from various Indonesian and Dutch companies that use their network to reach out to farmers. In addition, vegIMPACT NL supports upgrading the green vocational education and training system in Indonesia. The activities of the two-years program are funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta and succeed the vegIMPACT program that finished at the of end of 2017. At the closing ceremony of WISE 2018, Rob Zwartbol, the ambassador of the Netherlands to Indonesia, used vegIMPACT NL as one of examples of the successful collaborations between Indonesia and The Netherlands and emphasized the ambitions of the program to reach out to more than 30,000 farmers.
